Outdoor work requires workwear that can keep you warm, even at very low temperatures. By wearing workwear that is certified in accordance to EN 342, you are guaranteed the best protection against the cold. EN 342 is a European standard that specifies the minimum requirements for workwear that can be worn in cold environments, meaning at temperatures below -5°C. Each MASCOT product that is certified to EN 342 is ranked in certain classes of protection. The EN 342 standard is indicated by two values: air permeability and resistance to water penetration. The air permeability is described by class 1-3, where 3 indicates the highest class and thereby provides the best thermal protection for the user. This means that cold air will not be able to penetrate the fabric, causing to wearer to freeze. The second value, resistance to water penetration, is described by class 1-2, where 2 indicates the highest class. Workwear certified to EN 342 offers protection against cold weather and features excellent insulating effect.
In order to achieve the best thermal protection according to EN 342, the workwear must be kept dry and it is recommended that you wear a hat and gloves. In addition, the workwear must be firmly closed and tightened around the wrists. That way, you avoid cooling, which causes your body temperature to drop and make you freeze.
Following the instructions for washing and general care can extend the lifespan of EN 342-certified workwear as well as making sure that your clothing is stored in a dry space when it is not being used.
